The bed is an oval shape. These outside dimensions include the rail, or sides. The rail is 1 1/2"" thick, reducing inside area by 3" in each direction. Height listed is for sides and rear, with a scooped out entrance. Subtract the depth of the 1" base for the inside height to the top of rail at the highest point.
